Meet your teacher...Miss Dorval
Welcome to 3rd grade! My name is Maren Dorval, and I am so excited about being your child’s teacher, and am delighted to have this opportunity to work with you and your child this school year.
I was born and raised in Belfield, North Dakota and received my B.S. in Elementary Education at Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2012. I recently went back to school, where I will receive my Masters in Education through Saint Mary's University of Minnesota this May. This will be my 4th year teaching 3rd grade and I absolutely LOVE it!
As a teacher, I want to create a warm, comfortable, and nurturing environment where all children can learn skills and concepts that will prepare them to continue on their educational path with confidence, competency and a passion of life long learning. I want to encourage curiosity and creativity, as well as encourage and develop the strengths of each child through a child-centered, hands-on, collaborative learning environment. I believe children have the right to their own active involvement in learning by interacting with their peers, environment, and the teachers. Many in-school activities and at-home projects have been planned through out the school year to help you get the most out of third grade. It will be a great year!
Every student has the right to learn in a comfortable, non-threatening environment. In an effort to ensure that this environment exists, the rules and procedures for operation in our classroom will be sent home with your child during the first week of school. School-wide and district rules can be found in the school handbook.
My expectations for your child are high, but I have no doubt that all of my students are capable of reaching or even surpassing them. Third grade is an important stepping stone on the path to higher education. A good work ethic is important to your child’s success in meeting those objectives. I will expect each student to put forth his or her best effort this school year.
E-mail is the best way to stay in contact with me, so feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. I also love visitors so please do not be shy to pop in before or after school. You can also reach me by phone, although sometimes it is difficult to check voicemail regularly throughout the day. You can reach me before or after school at 651-480-7408.
We realize that you have entrusted us with your precious gift which includes the responsibility of loving and teaching your child which I take great pride in. Students, I challenge you to seize the opportunity offered to you this school year and make the most of it! Your parents, guardians, and I will assist you and provide support every step of the way! Here is to a great year.... WOOHOOO!
